Terms of Use
Last updated: July 31, 2026. These terms govern the use of the VM Improvements client portal.
1. What the portal is
The VM Improvements portal is a private tool provided to active clients, and to our own staff and crews, so that everyone can follow the progress of a remodeling project. It is provided for information and coordination. It is not a store, a payment processor, or a public service, and there is no public sign-up — accounts are created by VM Improvements LLC.
By signing in, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. Your account
Your credentials are personal to you. Do not share your password or let another person sign in as you. If someone else in your household needs access, ask us and we will decide how to arrange it. Tell us immediately if you think your account has been used by someone else.
Staff and crew accounts are individual, and each person is responsible for what is done under their account. We may suspend an account at any time to protect the system or a client's information.
3. Project photos and updates are information, not promises
Photographs, notes, schedules, day counters, and “tomorrow” details in the portal are posted as work happens and reflect a moment in time. They are provided for your information only. They are not a warranty, not a guarantee of a completion date or of any particular finish, and not a substitute for the signed contract or approved plans and specifications.
Dates shown in the portal may change as the job progresses. Where a date changes, we record the reason and show it to you.
4. The signed contract governs
If anything in the portal — a note, a photo caption, a document, a schedule, a payment line — conflicts with your signed contract or its written amendments, the signed contract governs.
5. Change order approvals
When you approve a change order in the portal, you are giving a binding authorization for that change and for the associated cost, and you accept any schedule impact stated with it. The approval is recorded with your account and the date and time. Only the homeowner's own account can record that approval — our staff cannot approve on your behalf.
If you do not intend to authorize the cost, do not approve it in the portal. Call us instead at (203) 914-4858.
6. SMS Text Messaging Terms
VM Improvements uses SMS text messaging to keep you informed about your project. By providing your mobile phone number and checking the SMS consent box on our intake form or contract, you agree to receive text messages from VM Improvements about project updates, scheduling, reminders, and other communication related to your project. Your consent is voluntary and is not required as a condition of purchasing our services.
Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on your project activity. You may receive up to several messages per week while work is actively underway, and fewer messages during planning or after completion.
Rates. Message and data rates may apply according to your wireless carrier plan.
Opt-out. You can cancel SMS messaging at any time by replying STOP to any message. After we receive your STOP request, we will send a confirmation message and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us.
Help. For help or questions, reply HELP or contact us at (203) 914-4858.
Carrier disclaimer. T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and other wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How we use your information. We will not share your phone number or SMS opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Our Privacy Policy also applies to SMS communications.
7. Acceptable use
- Use the portal only for your own project, or, if you are staff, only for the jobs assigned to you.
- Do not attempt to access records, accounts, or files that are not yours.
- Do not probe, scan, scrape, or attempt to bypass security or access controls.
- Do not upload malicious files, or content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringes someone's rights.
- Do not republish another person's project photos or documents obtained through the portal.
We may remove content and end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
8. Access after your project ends
Your portal access is tied to your active project. After the project is marked complete, we keep the portal open to you for a limited period so you can review and download what you need, and then the account is deactivated. Please download any documents or photos you want to keep before then. Retention of the underlying records is described in our Privacy Policy.
Portal availability after completion: your portal account stays open for 6 months after the project is marked complete, and is deactivated after that. Please download anything you want to keep before then. Our underlying business records are kept longer — see the Privacy Policy.
9. Availability
We provide the portal “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend, or retire features. Loss of portal access does not affect any of your rights under your signed contract.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and except for the express warranties written into your signed contract, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement in connection with the portal itself.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the portal, or for decisions made solely on the basis of information shown in it rather than the signed contract. Our total liability arising from the portal is limited to the amount you have paid us under the contract for the project it relates to. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for the workmanship obligations in your contract, or for personal injury caused by our negligence.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and if the update materially affects you we will tell active clients directly. Continuing to use the portal after an update means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the venue for any dispute arising from the portal is the Connecticut state courts. Dispute resolution provisions in your signed contract, if any, continue to apply to the work itself.
